Joyland

Joyland was James Beard Award–winning chef Sean Brock's playful take on fast food in East Nashville. Our original job was a cheerful site to show off the menu and merch. Then COVID-19 hit the same month the restaurant was set to open, and online ordering suddenly became its lifeline. We pivoted fast and built a custom ordering system that let Joyland take and manage orders without relying on third-party apps. I come from a design background, so I dug into the technical side to launch on time with the opening while keeping the experience fun and on brand.
